I’m so fond of milk that I can have it any time of the day in any form…. Hot or cold, plain or shakes. But my kids are just the opposites of me. Here, by opposite I don’t mean that they are like their father or my in-laws as far as drinking milk is concerned. In fact, my whole family, except the kids, loves to have milk. Making my kids drink milk is a big project for me. They just run away at the sight of plain milk. So I have to make different types of shakes to make them have it.
Apple shake is one of those shakes that can be whipped up in no time. Even If kids are not having anything before going to school, I feel guilt free by offering them this milkshake as it fulfills their protein, carbs and vitamin needs. Moreover, this shake has lot of fibres in it, that is good for your digestive system. But if you do not like fibres, strain the milk shake. My daughter likes it as such, but for my fussy son, I have to remove the fibres.
Apple saffron shake can also be consumed during fasting days. Since time immemorial, it has been said that an apple a day keeps doctor away. So this milk shake has the goodness of apple combined with milk and queen of spices saffron.
|Apple||1, peeled and chopped|
|Chilled Milk ||300 ml|
|Saffron ||a pinch|
- Soak saffron in 2 teaspoons of warm milk to release its aroma.
- Peel, core and chop apple into small pieces.
- Take apple pieces and sugar in a blender and blitz to make a puree.
- To the puree, add chilled milk, saffron milk and blend again to make apple saffron shake.
- Pour in glasses and serve immediately.
