Last week, I had gone to Mussoorie to celebrate my anniversary. When I came back home, was too tired from the eight hours long journey to cook anything. My daughter was very happy thinking that she will again get to eat pizza that she had been feasting for the last two days. Kids these days….. Never tired off pizzas and pastas. But after eating outside food continuously for three days, neither me nor my husband were in a mood to eat anything of the sort.
In such type of condition, when I’m neither in a mood to cook nor want outside food, khichdi is the best option. I love to have khichdi loaded with vegetables. But my kids are averse of it. So if I’m to make khichdi for the whole family, generally I make chana dal khichdi which is more like pulao. And the best thing is, my whole family eats it fuss-free. I serve it with raita, papad and kachumbar salad.
