Cheese Corn Balls

Corn and cheese, these are the two things which are loved by almost all. When these two combine, the outcome is a super yum, crunchy from outside and soft from inside.  This is infact a perfect morsel. It is such a dish that can be served as a snack as well as appetizer.   So you can indulge in this once in a while without guilt.  cc12

Although cheese in it is full of calories, at the same time it is quiet nutritious. It is a rich source of calcium and proteins. Calcium is good for bones and teeth. It helps to strengthens bones and prevents osteoporosis. So all those mommies who have to run after their kids for milk, can bring a smile on the face of their lovely kids by presenting them with these super delicious, mouth watering delicacies 🙂

Stepwise pictorial description of Cheese Corn Balls

First of all boil corns.


Cool and grind along with garlic in a grinder. Keep aside.

To make white sauce, take butter in a pan. Heat it to melt butter. Add maida and stir it to mix well. Cook it for 2-3 min till light brown.

Add milk while stirring continuously taking care no lumps should form. Cook till it thickens to a paste.


Add salt and seasoning to it.

Add ground corn, bread crumbs and corn flour and mix well. It should be like dough. You can add more bread crumbs if required.

Keep in fridge for about 30 min.

To make balls, take lemon sized dough. Flatten it, put a cheese cube in the centre and roll into a ball. Make all the balls.


Dip the ball in milk and roll in bread crumb. Repeat with all the balls.

Keep in fridge for 15-20 min. Fry in medium hot oil till golden brown.


Serve hot with tomato sauce or green chutney and enjoy.

Prep Time – 30 min          Cooking Time – 10 min              Serves – 10-12  balls

Ingredients for cheese balls: 

  • Maida                           2 tbsp
  • Butter                           1 tbsp
  • Milk                              1 cup
  • Corn                              1 cup
  • Garlic cloves               3-4
  • Mozzarella cheese     ½ cup, grated + 1 tablespoon, cubed
  • Black pepper               ½ tsp, crushed
  • Mixed herbs                1 tsp
  • Salt                               ½ tsp or acc to taste
  • Corn flour                    2 tbsp
  • Bread crumbs             2 tbsp

Ingredients for coating:

  • Bread crumbs             ½ cup
  • Milk                              ¼ cup


  1. Take butter in a pan. Heat it and add maida to it. Cook it till it turns light brown.
  2. Add milk and stir continuously.
  3. Cook till it thickens.
  4. Boil corns and pulse it in a grinder along with garlic cloves.
  5. Add corns, cheese, corn flour, bread crumbs, salt and seasoning to the white sauce. The mixture should be like dough.
  6. Keep it fridge to get chilled
  7. When you want to make cheese balls, take lemon sized mixture. Flatten it, stuff a cube of cheese and roll it into a ball.
  8. Dip the ball into milk and coat with bread crumb.
  9. Keep in fridge for 15 min.
  10. Fry in medium hot oil till golden brown.
  11. Serve hot with tomato ketchup or mint chutney.
