As soon as there is change in weather, kid’s demands for ice cream increases. Whenever there is ice cream hawker in the street, my daughter comes running demanding for it. That’s the reason, I keep my fridge stocked with ice cream.

Exam time is a tough time for the kids. Sometimes I just feel pity on them. When last day of the exams is there, you can feel the happiness on their face. To increase my daughter’s happiness, I wanted to make something that she loves.

To celebrate the completion of her exams, today my daughter has gone to her aunt’s place along with her grandparents. To give them surprise when they’ll be back tomorrow, I thought of making my daughter’s favourite… Chocolate ice cream. For making this ice cream, I followed my usual vanilla ice cream recipe and to make it chocolaty, I used chocolate syrup.

Creamy Chocolate Ice Cream
When ice cream can be made so easily at home, why to bring store bought ice creams. Try out your hands on this creamy and delicious chocolate ice cream and surprise everybody you love.

Instructions
  1. Bring milk to a boil and let it simmer on low flame till it reduces to almost half.
  2. Add granulated sugar and continue to stir till sugar dissolves completely.
  3. Dissolve cornflour in little milk to make a paste.
  4. Slowly add cornflour paste to the simmering milk. Keep on stirring continuously so as to avoid burning of milk as the bottom.
  5. When it gets thickened, remove from fire and allow it to cool completely.
  6. Pour in a container and keep in freezer till semi frozen.
  7. Take out the semi frozen milk mixture. Add vanilla essence and chocolate syrup. Beat it again till it becomes almost double due to aeration.
  8. Beat the chilled cream over ice. Fold it gently into beaten ice cream mixture.
  9. Pour in shallow container and refrigerate till frozen.
Recipe Notes

I have used Amul fresh cream in this recipe, you can also use malai.

Sugar can be increased or decreased according to taste.

  1. I agree exam time is really stressful to kids these days. I don’t remember stressing out so much in my student days. Great choice for the summers.

     
  2. I think the parents stress level is higher than the kids , and we want the exams to go smoothly . I am sure your daughter must have been happy to see this creamy chocolate ice.cream .

     
  3. Wow that surely looks too sinful!..won’t mind a spoon right now..I feel we must do something to reduce the stress the kids have these days, we also get sucked up in that stress!

     
  4. The ice-cream looks delicious. I am sure your daughter will love it. Just wanted to ask you can we not mix the cream with the cooked and evaporated milk before freezing it. Will it make a huge difference to the texture?

     
    1. It does make a difference. Once I had just cooled the mixture in refrigerator, mixed cream, churned and then kept in freezer to freeze. Once frozen, again churned it and froze. THe ice cream had icicles in it and wasn’t that much creamy.

       
  5. Hope they did their exams well and finally, mama got her me time 🙂 how delicious the ice cream looks, I can dive in right now just because of its chocolate. It is really a delicious treat for kids after all that exams..Love the silky consistency of the ice cream.
