My oven was giving me temperature problem that kept me away from baking for a long time. When Valli announced Bake-e-thon, an annual event in which we, a group of bloggers bake the whole month of December for 3 days a week, I knew that it is going to give me Kick start that I needed badly. So a visit to the service centre and got my oven ready for December.
Now after such a long break, when I thought of baking, my mind was not settling on one thing. That long list of bookmarked recipes or my new cookery books, everything was asking me to use it. But I can’t make everything (my weighing scale will crash then 😁😉) so decided to make every week something under one category. For the first week, I settled for cookies as my daughter had been after me for a long time to make some cookies for her.
Now the search for cookies started. Couple of months back, I had bought a book from Diwali Mela. It has pretty good recipes. There I saw this delicious turtle cookie and wanted to make it. Now when I was thinking about cookies, turtle cookie was bound to come to my mind and I decided to make it. Since the recipe in the book has eggs in it, so I made some changes in the recipe to make it eggless. For topping of the cookie cups, I used homemade caramel sauce and Hershey’s chocolate sauce
I was a bit curious from the name turtle cookies, so searched for them on the net. Though I couldn’t find anything specific about the name, yet a rough idea that name may be due to the use of pecans in the recipe that gives a slight resemblance to turtle. What ever may be reason behind the name, the fact is these cookies are sooo delicious that you would love to have them often.
