Hummus is a very easy to make and tasty spread that is made from cooked and mashed chickpeas. The ground chickpeas otherwise appear dry unless generous amount of olive oil is added to them to make a smooth paste.

The chickpeas themselves taste bland unless flavoured with some other ingredients. Tahini is one of them.

Tahini is a sauce make from sesame seeds and is quite flavorful. If you don’t have tahini, you can add roasted sesame seeds to hummus.

Other ingredients that make this dip more flavorful are garlic, cumin and lemon juice. Don’t wait for anything to make this simple dip that just requires a food processor to churn all the ingredients together and make them into a lip smacking, hard to resist dip.

  1. Combine boiled chickpeas, tahini, garlic cloves, olive oil and lemon juice in s food processor.
  2. Grind to form a smooth paste. Add water saved from boiled chickpeas, if required to maintain the consistency of the dip.
  3. Season with cumin powder, salt and pepper.
  4. Garnish with chopped coriander and serve with pita bread.
