Leftover Dalia and Rice Tikki / Broken Wheat & Rice Tikki

What do you do when you have some leftovers. I’m sure like me, even you want to use those leftovers. Food is precious, so there is no point wasting it. It should be made in the required quantity only. But still sometimes some food is left and then there is this thought how to use it.

I had some leftover rice in my fridge. My mother in law wanted to eat mixed veg dalia for her breakfast, so I made it for her. We both had it in the breakfast but still some dalia was left. These days due to cold weather, everyone in the family wants to have something hot in the evening. So for the evening tea, I decided to make use of my leftover dalia and rice to make these spicy deep fried tikkis.

All the ingredients were in the pantry and these easy tikkis with leftovers were there on everybody’s plate within 20 minute.

Instructions
  1. In a bowl, take leftover dalia and rice. Mash them well with a potato masher.
  2. Add chopped onion, green chilies, ginger and all the spices. Mix well.
  3. Divide the mixture into 8 parts and shape into tikkis.
  4. In another bowl, take corn flour and all purpose flour. Add a pinch of salt and mix well.
  5. Roll the tikkis into this flour mixture and keep aside.
  6. Add water to the remaining flour mixture to form a thin batter.
  7. Dip tikkis into this batter and then coat with bread crumbs.
  8. Fry in hot oil till golden brown.
  9. Serve hot with some chutney or dip.
