McDonald opened its first joints in India in 1996. Since then they have spread their wings across the country, now having around 350 restaurants. The success of Mcdonald’s in India can be attributed to its famous burger which has been specially made that suits Indian taste buds and pocket… Yeah, you guessed it right…. It’s Mcaloo Tikki Burger. It’s a burger with a cutlet/tikki made of mashed potatoes, peas and flavoured with Indian spices.

Today is the third and last day of my theme ‘Burger’. When we are talking/thinking about burgers it’s almost impossible to ignore McDonald’s. So, for third day I thought of including McDonald style aloo tikki burger. The other two burgers that I posted were Taco vegan burger with Chipotle mayonnaise’ and ‘Roadside noodle burger’.

Earlier I used to make burger with the aloo tikki that I normally make until I stumbled upon this site. When I followed the recipe, the tikis came out so well that they were immediately passed by my foodie son. In fact he gave me ten out of ten.

Mc Aloo tikki burger is a very simple basic burger that has a tikki, onion and tomato slices and topped with a sauce. The sauce is made by mixing mayonnaise and tomato sauce. I have made my burger the same way. You can Spruce it up by adding any other toppings like for veggies, you can also use cucumber, lettuce etc. Other things could be addition of cheese slices, jalapeno, pickles, or sauces of your choice.

  1. Can you please tell me if I want to make this burger in the morning for lunch so can I make this Rikki preparation at evening.should I pour the Mafia and cornflower mixture at night only.please help

        1. No, you do the coating with maida followed by breadcrumb coat. Then keep it in refrigerator. If you want to keep it for many days, then keep in freezer wrapped in zip lock bag. Thaw before frying. Hope it’s clear now
