This is the third week of blogging marathon #71. I’m going to post my recipes on a very interesting theme ‘one ingredient three courses’. Hope it’s clear from the theme what I’m going to do to. If not, lemme explain. I’ll select any one ingredient for the week and prepare three different courses like starter, soup, main course or dessert with the same ingredients.
Since mushroom is in the season and it’s my favorite as well. So I considered it best to take mushroom as my ingredient.
In India the most commonly available form of mushroom is the button mushroom. The pearl white colored mushroom is so fascinating to look at. It not only pleases the eyes but has numerous health benefits as well. Infact, mushrooms are now known as ‘the new superfood.’
What is so good about mushroom that they have been raised to such a high status?? Mushrooms are low in carbohydrates, fat or cholesterol free and high in fibre. Not only this, they contain various important nutrients like vitamin B, vitamin D, minerals like iron, selenium, potassium etc. A micronutrient, ergothioneine, present in mushrooms is a powerful antioxidant and anti inflammatory agent. All these nutrients present in mushrooms help in conferring various health benefits to the person’s consuming them like better immune system, improved heart health, prevents osteoporosis, breast and prostate cancer, good for diabetic patients and many more. So make this superfood a part of your diet if you were ignoring it till now. Lemme help you in that by posting couple of mushroom dishes in this week.
The meal starts with an appetizer. So first mushroom dish that I’m going to prepare today is an appetizer i.e. Mushroom Crostini. The crisp Crostini topped with cheese laden mushroom makes such a delectable snack that I can’t resist myself from eating them. So instead of appetizer, it becomes a meal for me?. My mushroom hater daughter has started liking mushroom after eating this mushroom Crostini.
