Quaker Oats Paratha/ Healthy & Spicy Multi Veg oats Paratha

Quaker Oats Paratha for letter Q, that’s my today’s recipe. Letter Q was quite tricky, as very few options were there for this letter. Few days back, while I was arranging the things in my pantry, after finding an unopened pack of Quaker oats, I made  veg masala oats with it. While enjoying my oats in the breakfast, I decided Quaker oats to be my word for letter ‘Q’  I had another option of using quinoa but Quaker Oats won the battle.

You must all be knowing by know that I took part in this mega marathon with theme ‘A to Z Indian Flatbreads’ without any preparation. My decision to take part came so sudden that what to think of posts, even my list wasn’t ready. So I cook and post the recipes the same day.

Today, I was invited to one of my friend’s place for puja. So I had my brunch over there and when came back home, was all full eating all those delicious things like pooris, chana, aloo sabzi, raita, halwa etc. I have a bad habit, if my tummy is full I don’t feel like cooking. So decided to postpone cooking of my today’s Oats paratha till evening.

Oats are healthy in itself, just to make paratha healthier and tastier, I added all the veggies that I had in my fridge like a small floret of cauliflower, one carrot, 5-6 soybeans, 1/2 capsicum, ginger and coriander leaves. I minced the veggies in food processor and mixed them well with oats. Since minced veggies release water, so to knead the dough only  2 tablespoon of water was used. Finally I cooked parathas with just 2 tablespoons of olive oil, though you may use any oil.

When the parathas were getting cooked, they smelled so good that whatever I ate at my friend’s house, got digested instantly 😀 and I started feeling hungry again. I had one paratha with my evening tea and kept some for my daughter and husband. They had those parathas in dinner with dal. According to my daughter’s view, they tasted like dhapate that she loved a lot.

Quaker oats paratha
  1. Grind oats to powder. Keep aside.
  2. Mince all the veggies along with ginger and green chillies in a food processor.
  3. Add ground oats, rice flour, minced veggies, spices and salt in a bowl.
  4. Mix well and knead into a dough by adding water. I added only 2 tbsp of water.
  5. Divide the dough into 4 parts. Make balls and roll into a thick roti.
  6. Transfer to hot griddle and cook on both sides till golden brown.
  7. Enjoy hot with or without any accompaniment.

    I actually do not mind having these healthy and delicious parathas for breakfast .

  3. You remind me of me two years back. It is so tough cooking, clicking and blogging on the same day and I must say you are doing an amazing job. This is definitely an interesting twist for the alphabet and the parathas look absolutely yum.
