Summers may not be liked by all of us, as this hot weather brings with it an uncomfortable feeling, tiredness and irritability. But the same summers also bring with it a gift in the form of most loved fruit…. Yeah you guessed it right… The king of fruits i.e. Mango. It’s such a fruit which is the yummiest in any form… Whether you take it as such, make something out of it, take it ripe or unripe. If unripe, can make a number of scrumptious recipes from it like aam panaa, pickle, launji, sweet chutney, murraba etc.
Mango onion chutney is one of the tastiest recipes made from raw mango. It is one of the sought after accompaniment during summers in my family…. my son’s favorite. He is so fond of this chutney that if he doesn’t find in on the dining table, will start making excuses of not having dinner. Even I don’t want to skip it as it comes together without much effort and without any cooking. Moreover, raw mangoes help to protect you from sunstroke. So taste bhi aur health bhi.
This chutney is the right balance of sour, spicy and salty. We add a bit of sugar just to mellow down sourness of raw mangoes. That’s totally optional. If your mangoes are on sweeter side or you don’t like sweet taste, sugar can be omitted.
Now hurry up.. Make this spicy n tangy chutney and jazz up your meals…..
|Raw mango||½ cup, peeled and chopped
|Onion||2 medium, chopped roughly
|Red chilli powder||½ teaspoon
- In a blender jar, take roughly chopped mango pieces, onion and green chillies.
- Add salt, red chilli powder and sugar to the blender and pulse it few times to get a chutney of the texture of your choice.
- If you want a very smooth texture, pulse it more, other wise pulse it less to get a coarse texture.
I am sending this recipe for Blogging Marathon #64 Week 3 Day 1 under theme Pickles n Preserves.
