Few days back, on one of the FB group, I saw a pic of a recipe that totally fascinated me with its looks and simplicity. Immediately I decided to make it but as usual like many of the recipes it also became another addition to my bookmark folder.

Stuffed rava balls

Holidays are going on and with that starts my daughter’s friends get together as well. Last week, her friends came to our house. She wanted to different types of snacks. Along with usual pizza, pasta, muffins, popcorns, chips etc, I thought of making those rava balls that I had seen sometimes back.

I wanted to add my touch to the recipe so filled hall of of the balls with little sweet and crunchy peanut stuffing. Believe me that filling took the rava balls to several notches higher.

Here is my version of Stuffed Rava Balls ….

Instructions
  1. Heat water in a pan, add salt, grated carrot and ginger to it.
  2. When the water comes to a boil, slowly add rava to it with constant stirring.
  3. When it will be together into a mass, add 1 tbsp of oil and mix well.
  4. Take off the flame. Cover and let it cool completely.
  5. In the meanwhile, prepare the stuffing by mixing all the ingredients under stuffing.
  6. Knead the cooled rava mixture and take out a lemon sized portion from it. Put a small amount of stuffing inside and roll it into a ball.
  7. Similarly prepare balls from the whole rava mixture.
  8. Steam the balls in a steamer for 4-5 minutes.
  9. For tempering, heat 1 tsp of oil. Add mustard seeds and let them splutter.
  10. Add urad dal, curry leaves and whole red chilli. Lightly fry it till dal changes colour.
  11. Add turmeric powder and salt. Fry it for a while and add rava balls in it. Mix to coat well.
  12. Finally squeeze lemon juice over the balls and garnish with green coriander.
  13. Serve hot!
