My family is very fond of South Indian food. Upma and idli are two most frequently made dishes in my home. Usually I make instant rava idli. Since idli with rice and dal needs longer fermentation time, so it is made occasionally. Another instant variety of idli that I like is sooji vermicelli idli.
Vermicelli are also known as sevai or semiya. There are various sweet or savory dishes made from them like semiya kheer, semiya upma, sweet semiya, vermicelli paratha etc. And every recipe has a unique taste. Same goes with these vermicelli idlis. Along with the vermicelli, I also used wheat rava. You can use rice rava, oats or millet flour…whatever you like.
Like instant rava idli, this wheat rava vermicelli idli is also an instant idli recipe i.e. no fermentation required and can be prepared in minutes. To make it healthier, I added some carrot and peas to it. Undoubtedly it increased the nutrition quotient, but at the same time, veggies made the idlis look colourful. Though you can omit veggies, but I’ll recommend using it. That way you can make your fussy eaters eat some veggies.
Here is the recipe for you to try and enjoy it 🙂
