Alfajores from Argentina- Dulche de Leche Sandwich Cookies

How the time flies, one doesn’t realize. This is the third Mega Marathon, I’m participating. Last year during April, I took part in mega marathon for the first time. I had almost said no to the Mega marathon at that time as I hadn’t prepared a single dish, but all my co bloggers boosted me up to take part and I could complete that marathon successfully with the resolution that next time I’ll plan ahead. But acc to the popular saying “old habits die hard” even I couldn’t improve upon myself. A year has passed but my habit of not planning ahead hasn’t changed ?. But with full zeal, Here I’m, no list, no recipe in hand or in mind, but a determination that I’ll do it.

Mega marathon is an event, in which all the participating bloggers are to post consecutively the whole month leaving Sundays. This April we are to post baked goodies from the different countries of the world, so the theme is ABC Bake around the world. That means the name of the dish should follow alphabetic sequence i.e. starting from A to Z. We can post at the max 3 dishes from a country. Doesn’t it sound interesting? So take a gastronomic tour with me everyday, peeking into the cuisine of a different country to give a pleasant surprise to your taste buds.

Today being the first day of this marathon, my entry into this marathon with letter A is Alfajores from Argentina.

Alfajores are the the soft, crumbly cookies made with cornstarch. Doesn’t it sound interesting? Yeah, it is…. When I first landed up here and saw the cookies, I was a bit skeptical how these cookies would taste like. Still, I thought of giving them a try. When these were out of oven and I tasted them, the cookies on their own didn’t have much a taste. Anyway, I wanted to complete the task. So, the next step was to sandwich Dulce de leche between cookies. Omg! How wonderful they tasted after completion, I have no words for them. Crisp and crumbly cookies with dense and sticky interior, just contrary to one another with mind boggling results… Hey! Don’t listen to my words only… Make it yourself and feel their magical taste in your mouth.

Here goes the recipe .
